What I've so far learned in 2009. We must add to the "Rant"

There's lots to learn with a new year... and so far I've learned Lots... not really fantastic life moving knowledge at the most, but fun stuff :-)

I remembered that before the age of 9 I hung out with 7 boys... These boys were great friends and and through 20 years of different lives and a little bit of a reunion via Facebook we still have something to talk about! We are currently trying to figure out what our final conversation was... Kool aid, Hot box cars and kick ball probably.

20 years later you find out that even with the distance you still like the same cars, did basically the same dorky stuff in high school, and wonder what it would have been like if you hadn't lost touch.

every party should involve a game of Kings or Monopoly.

If you don't get to spend New Year's Eve with your Navy boyfriend (because he's a dummy) you'll end up catching a picture of some other girl watching the ball drop in Times Square in the arms of a sailor!! *sigh*

Jo's name ends with an uh, and I am so happy she was not in Colorado so I could spend New Years Eve with her and her family in the "Historic town of Milford"

& specking of Milford I learned a couple other things. Milford is about a mile away from Jersey and a mile away from New York. Port Jervis taught me about Admiral Nelson (Jo says its great i just liked the picture) & knock off Southern Comfort sucks!

When you Drink Alot with Jo at L and M's house and then spend the entire next day hanging out with Jo watching season 1 of "One Tree Hill" with a hang over you will not go hungry. Chef M makes sure of that and man he's a good cook!

Packing places in Port Jervis and probably everywhere but NJ sell individual bottles I bought 2 Strawberry Smirnoff Ice for $1.50 each. That stuff is TASTE-eeee!!!!!

A Night back in Jersey is worth millions especially when when spent with H & L

Living 80 steps from bar stool to bed will be missed when you have to hike up a hill in freezing cold weather.

you will be missed too when it snows and your neighbor has no one to drink with while shovling the dreaded drive way!!

You will Always be a regular at Johnnies Tavern once loved always loved!! God I miss that place.
God I miss Boonton!!

certian friends' boyfriends cause drama... and when your away from the drama long enough it's bigger when you have to be around it again. :-(

Every Military Man (or any man for that matter) has a teenager trapped inside him... You will be reminded of this when your Navy Boyfriend calls you up while drinking with his buddies and pleads you text him a picture of your boobs. With your agreement... you do so fully knowing that his single buddies now know what they look like and are jealous of your boyfriend and can't wait to meet you. Beware of the fully nude photos girls!! He probably will pin them to his helmet well combing the sandbox in the Middle East.

New York / New Jersey pizza does not have Wisconsin Cheese on it!!

PA is only boring if you have no one to hang out with!!! (where are you SAMMIE???)

Sheetz in Hazzy is almost as cool as Quick Check in Madison or WaWa in Little Egg Harbor. Exspecially when you are related to the counter girl! (then you get free coffee cards sweet!!)

Turkey Hill in Brodheadsville is full of Jersey girls!! I love it!!

that's all I got for now.

Good morning Boonton Fire Department is there a fire in my house?

The Boonton Fire Department showed up at my house this morning. It was kind of weird. I was told when I first moved in here that if there was a fire in my house that they would be here in seconds… well that’s true. I was still sleeping from too many beers at the St. Patrick’s Day hippie’s house and the fire call goes off. This is normal. The siren is in my backyard. It did wake me up but I ignored it and rolled over. Then my phone is ringing… its H. I ignore that too because I’m tired and I will see her later. Then I hear banging on my door. I figure its H and I’m thinking Jez I guess she really needs me. “What?!” I call in my raspy I’m not awake yet voice. It wasn’t H who opened my door, it was CJ dressed in full fire apparel. “There’s an alarm going off in your house, you need to come outside.” He informs me and then turns around and walks out. I did what he asked… not even stopping to put on shoes. I was fully dressed, I went to bed that way because I was drunk. It was all so weird and I was like WTF? Basically… The trucks were all out on the street, and there were firemen and women all over the place… Jack, CJ, & Ray and a couple others I knew from living next door. they were all looking at me… I was like uh… sorry guys. I called H back and sat on the porch steps.

H: Are you ok? Me: Ya. I’m good you guys heard the call huh? It’s the alarm upstairs in Jim’s place. H: Ya we heard it on James’ radio. What happened? Me: Not sure yet I gotta go though and find out. H: Ok call me back.

The chief called me over and asked if I knew how to get in touch with Jim, I said yup and blew up his phone. I called him and his sister Kurry three times each and then left a message with Jim. According to the chief and CJ they were cleaning the firehouse and they heard the alarm going upstairs. Since no one was answering the door, they had to sound the alarm to get in there. Jack and a couple of the other guys came down form Jim’s place with the smoke detector still blaring. They brought it to the truck, changed the batteries and it was all over. Jim called me back and I put him on the phone with the chief. Ray teased me about being in my socks… I told him CJ told me I had to come out and I did… shoes weren’t really on my mind. Then he commented on the fact that they didn’t match. Lol. Well I dunno socks are socks. Is it safe to go back in? I inquired. CJ said I dunno I’ll ask the chief. And so it was. Just like that the street was completely quiet again. I got my shoes on and went for coffee.

I guess this whole leaving Boonton thing is going to be eventful after all.

Thanks again BFD for your quick response and for keeping me safe.

You can take the Girl out of Jersey, But you Can not take the Jersey out of the girl!!

This Jersey girl is headed to Pennsylvania in November. I'm pretty sad about leaving Jersey though. It will be a nice change for a temporary stay. I haven't lived with my mother since I was 8 years old so 20 years down the road I will have the pleasure of learning what it will be like to be close to Mom again. Boonton is a Great town to live in. Mom is a Pennsylvania native, but she loves visiting me in Boonton. She feels like she didn't leave PA. I view this old Steel town as one that is stuck in time, and has aged to perfection and will never be any different. My neighbors consist of the Firehouse, which makes many strong able and willing gentlemen heroes my Neighbors. I love this Boonton Apartment, and this town too. I know most of my neighbors including John in the back of the house. He's a Fireman. next to me also is Kelly and Brian! I've known then for a while. Kelly and I have spent many afternoons drinking Twisted Teas and Chatting away about the Friends and the family. We've also collaborated with snow removal and ran to JT's in the rain to grab a bar stool. Every Thursday the Boonton firehouse Drum core practices in our backyard, and we've grown to enjoy them instead of trying to be far away from the music. every time i see them practice i say "man I miss Marching Band!" the house across the street has a gentleman that plays the harmonica at dusk and someone on the block has a drum set and you can hear that being practiced on in the evenings too. I do not know if i will miss the fire whistle that goes off in the wee hours of the night, but I won't have to run in the house before I lose my hearing anymore.
Over the weekend was Boonton's annual Labor day Fireman's parade and carnival! This event is always a blast! Just stay away from the Hook Juice if you don't want to wake up the next morning wondering how you got home.
